Help needed for the bears of Minnesota

03rd March 2011
I have been following the story of Lily the Black bear and her cubs recently as it unfolds in an alarming fashion.
Lily, along with Dr Lynn Rogers who has built up a trusting relationship with her and her family are in need of a little support. When hunting season arrives in Ely, Minnesota; ANY bear is fair game even those radio-collared by Lynn and his team. How can we expect animals, on one hand to trust humans to this extent and then on the other, kill them?

As a wildlife photographer, I am hoping to visit the bears in Ely over the next year or so as will many other people. If these bears are allowed to be needlessly killed perhaps people would think twice before travelling to Ely. Dr Rogers research continues to unearth new findings about bear interaction and we can learn so much more.
